Dan · RDV · Run-up to Vacation
Pre-Vacation Command Center
Every open project, sorted by what has to ship before you leave on July 25. Check things off as you go — it saves on its own.
Working notes
saves as you typeA place to dump whatever's in your head — what slipped, what to ask, what changed. Each project card has its own notes field too, lower down.
The honest read
start hereAlmost nothing here has runway. The plan is a sprint, not a coast.
The only project that can land after vacation is the Annual Report Power BI dashboard — it isn't due until Q1 2027 and only needs the Figma share on July 14. Everything else closes before you walk out. The two impact reports say "8/4," but you're gone that week, so 8/4 really means done by July 24.
The weight sits at both ends. This week carries the quick-turn sends and two report handoffs — and it's only four days, since Friday the 3rd is off for the holiday. The week of July 20 carries the newsletter, the committee deck, and the DeVos book final all at once. The middle two weeks are where you build, so protect them.
Three things eat more time than they look: the dashboard concepts for the 14th are a full design pass, and you've got two separate photo edits stacking up — the Gardens take for the OA deck and the 5200 employee photos. Culling and editing is slow, careful work, so each one gets its own block rather than a leftover hour.
Your noon block stays the gym and the run. It's on here as a fixed appointment, not a slot to raid when a day runs long.
Two places this wants to break
These are the spots worth handling early, while you still have room to ask.
Philanthropy Committee Deck
Kickoff is the 21st but it has to be done before you leave on the 24th — the same Friday the DeVos book final is due. Pull content or direction before the 21st if you can, or get agreement now that someone carries it while you're out.
DeVos Review Book — final
Due the exact day you leave. Treat the 23rd as the real deadline and keep the 24th as a buffer so a late note doesn't follow you on vacation.
Dashboard concepts in Figma
This isn't a quick prep — it's a full design pass, and it's due in the middle of your busiest build stretch. Give it real blocks the week of the 7th and the morning of the 13th, or it gets squeezed by the impact reports and Leadership Lab.
Deadline ladder
what lands whenRead top to bottom. Anything not on a rung still has to be wrapped by the 24th — see the checklists below.
Project checklists
checks save automaticallyThe shape of a good day
default rhythmMeetings move this around, but the bones hold: hardest design work early, the noon block for the gym and the run, lighter sends and tomorrow's prep at the end. Guard the first block — that's where the real work gets made.
Week by week
anchored to your calendarReal meetings are marked in teal. The focus line under each day is what to push while you have the room.
